“I am an artist who has been in the Lehigh Valley for 40 years. I work in various media but I am primarily a painter. This collection of bugs reflects my interest in the natural world. They are made primarily from paper and glue which I will either paint or cover with metal leaf and often both.”

Our latest ART@EPL art exhibit features two talented local artists whose paths intersected when Drew Tilton, a former U.S. Marine transitioning back to civilian life, decided to try out some ‘creative therapy’ by taking a class at The Baum School of Art — a class taught by Dana Van Horn.

Since then, Dana has become a mentor and friend, encouraging Drew to develop his artistic talent — something Drew has taken to heart as evidenced by the vibrant and evocative paintings currently on exhibit.

Dana, who is primarily a painter, has works in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, The Allentown Art Museum, and many others, as well as in private collections.

He is also a restorer of church paintings and a painter of realistic, Renaissance-style murals for parishes around the Lehigh Valley (read about one here). It was after completing a major commission for the Catholic Diocese of Allentown that Dana and his wife decided to move to the area.

Come and enjoy Dana’s sculptures and Drew’s paintings on your next visit!

From Dana’s About page:

Dana Van Horn is a Realist who paints the 21st Century world he lives in and the people with whom he shares it.

After receiving his Master of Fine Arts degree from Yale University, he moved to New York City and exhibited in various galleries from which his work was purchased for private, corporate and museum collections.

After completing a major commission for the Catholic Diocese of Allentown, Pennsylvania, he and his wife, Nancy Lloyd, moved nearby.

In addition to pursuing his own work, Van Horn accepts commissions and teaches adults at The Baum School of Art in Allentown.
