The thermometer got a nice bump of $17,319 in October, with donations to the annual fund drive making up the largest portion. The annual appeal letter is sent to patrons each fall and helps to boost private funding in the last quarter, reducing the budget gap that’s left after accounting for state and local funding.

Additional donations, sales from the ‘book sale nook,’ and cash receipts (such as printing, fines and fees) also helped to make October the strongest month for private funding so far this year — bringing the total to $64,488, or 59.7% of the goal ($108,034).

With only seven weeks left in 2020, there is still a sizable gap of $43,546 to close, so all donations are needed and welcome–whether by responding directly to the annual fund letter, buying used books or Dan Schantz ‘Monthly Maddness’ cards from the Friends, or setting up an automatic monthly donation for any amount that fits your budget.

Another easy, no-cost way to contribute is by using Amazon Smile for your holiday shopping and throughout the year. Gift books are another great way to support the library while honoring loved ones during the holidays. More ways to help the library can be found on the Support EPL page.

Thank you for supporting the library!
