The private funding thermometer rose by $29,009 in November, bringing the total to $122,443, or 102 percent of the goal.

Annual fund campaign contributions of more than $25K provided the biggest boost. The response by area residents to the yearly annual fund appeal is key to reaching the yearly private-funding goal, so we are very appreciative of everyone’s donations and continued support for the library.

November results also included $1500 for Tee Time sponsorships, nearly $1000 in general donations (including the donation box), almost $700 from sales in the Friends’ Book Nook, and roughly $500 from cash receipts (printing, damaged/lost items, room rental, etc.).

With just days to go before year end, we’re pleased that results have already surpassed this year’s target, which is a projection of the gap between what the library receives from public sources (state and local) and the projected operating budget. The additional funds help address any increase in that gap due to inflation and utilities, and also help the library reduce draw-down from its capital account for capital expenses (building, grounds, fixtures, furnishings, equipment and technology).

Of course, there’s still time to make a tax-deductible donation before Jan. 1, and to support the library in other ways — all are much appreciated.

Finally, we’re pleased to report that the three municipalities we serve have all approved library funding for 2024. Check back next month for details, full 2023 results, and next year’s private-funding target.

THANK YOU!
