Hi everybody!
Hope you’re all staying healthy and sane on this Day #47 of quarantine.
Next Tuesday, May 5, is not only our #EmmausDanceLibrary online dance party, but it’s also Giving Tuesday, a global day of generosity when everyone is encouraged to give to their community in some way. Like a lot of organizations, the library is affected by the current crisis both in terms of private donations and even local funding. Everyone is feeling the impact. So, since we know the library is just one of many nonprofits people can support on Giving Tuesday, we’ve come up with an idea to ‘sweeten the deal’ for donors — and we’d love it if you join us.
The staff is pulling out all the stops to offer up prizes to anyone who donates $25 or more on that day (and only on that day). We’re talking about TikTok dance videos to the song of your choice, original poems or haikus, book recommendations based on prior favorites, etc. Silly or serious, we’re workin’ it! It’s not about the ‘monetary’ value — it’s about having fun, giving back to our donors, and spreading positive energy in challenging times.
Here’s where you come in. We know there’s a world of talent in our volunteers — great cooks, artists, writers, jokesters, photographers, etc., and we’re looking for that talent in the form of a simple digital/virtual offer (something that can just be emailed out for the sake of simplicity).
Have a great recipe (food or cocktail)? That can be your offer. Always telling jokes? Write down your top 10 and that can be your offer. Love to write? Offer to write an original haiku You get the idea. We’re looking for simple — something you would enjoy receiving. One offer, or if you’re inspired, have at it.
Are you up for the challenge? Email a brief description of your offer to emmausplstacks@cliu.org by Sat., May 2 at noon, and we’ll include it on our ‘offer wall’ … here’s a sample (created before we decided in favor of digital offers from volunteers for sanity’s sake). Include a photo if possible (for recipes, etc.), but don’t let that hold you back. Can’t wait to see what you come with! And, whether you take part or not — we hope to see you at the virtual dance party and hopefully face-to-face soon too.
