10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1! LIFTOFF! Time to blast into a ‘Universe of Stories’ and the Summer Reading Club (SRC) that rewards you for reading them.
Starting Monday, June 10, everyone from toddlers to senior citizens can sign up for SRC — and not only get freebies just for signing up — but also earn incentives or chances to win fabulous gift baskets throughout the summer. All the details are available when you sign up, but here’s a quick overview:
First, you don’t need a library card to participate in SRC, but you do need one to borrow materials, so if you don’t already have a library card and/or if your child is age five or older, check our guidelines for getting a card and learn more about the Lehigh Carbon Library Cooperative (LCLC), which has 11 member libraries and more than half a million items ready to lend!
Children and Young Adults (up to age 17) can sign up for Summer Reading Club at the special SRC table in the library.
Children, both Family readers and Independent readers, earn incentives based on time spent reading — just as in previous years — as well as bonuses for additional activities completed, attending SRC events (such as our special summer storytime series), and more.
Young adults (entering 6th grade and up) earn a raffle ticket for each hour spent reading and can enter the tickets for a chance to win a weekly gift basket and/or several gift baskets to be raffled off at our 3rd annual SRC Pool Party.
Adults (ages 18 and over) can sign up in person at the library or by completing the Web Form starting June 10th. Read books in any format for yourself and submit a review for each title to be entered to win a weekly raffle basket. Reviews are due by 5 PM each Saturday for that week’s drawing, and winners will be announced the following Monday. Everyone who doesn’t win one of the weekly baskets will be entered in a drawing for a final gift basket to be raffled off at the conclusion of the program. The first 300 adults to sign up get a SRC 2019 tote bag, and all adult readers are also eligible to pick up FREE tickets to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire as they become available.
SRC 2019 runs June 10 – August 10. You can sign up on or after June 10, including at the June 15 kickoff party. The last day for Children and Young Adults to log hours is August 10, and the last day to pick up incentives is August 17.
