EPL seed lending library

If the return of spring has you dreaming of a lush garden that bears healthy food all summer, come in for free seed packets to get it started!

Tucked away in the drawers that used to house our card catalog — remember that? — you’ll find seeds for everything from carrots to cauliflower, and broccoli to beets.*

You can take up to eight packets per checkout with your library card (limit 2 of each variety). Just pick out the seed packets you like and take them to the desk along with your card. Easy peas-y.

If you have the space, consider planting an extra row and dropping off your extra produce at the library for Plant A Row Lehigh Valley. The organization picks up donated garden and grocery produce every week at the library throughout the summer and distributes it to local pantries and food banks to support area residents in need. Be on the lookout for more details about drop-off days and times.

For now, get your seeds and your green thumb and get growing!

*Our seed library, now in its fifth year, is made possible by a generous donation of seed packets from SeedWay. While we await this year’s supply, we have lots of seeds left from previous seasons. Seeds that are past their expiration date are usually just as good, and you can test whether expired seeds are still viable with the methods described here.
