Summer Reading Club – All Together Now

June 12 – August 12, 2023

Our Summer Reading Club is for readers of all ages! Children and Young Adults can read for incentives based on time spent reading (just like last year) and Adults have the option to read and complete activities to earn bingo for a free book light and a chance to win Iron Pigs tickets and gift certificates from local businesses at the end of the summer. You don’t need a library card to participate in SRC, but you do need one to borrow physical or electronic materials. You can start your card application online here. Check our guidelines for obtaining a card and learn more about the Lehigh Carbon Library Cooperative (LCLC) click here. SRC- All Together Now runs June 12 – August 12, 2023. The last day for Children and Young Adults to log hours and turn in reviews is August 12, and the last day to pick up incentives is August 19. Join us on the lawn to Kick Off the SRC Season on Saturday, June 17 from 11AM to 3 PM.

We’re using Beanstack for readers of all ages to track their reading, earn points and badges, and more. You can use the website or download the FREE app for Android or Apple devices to sign up. No library card is required, but you do need an email address. You can register multiple users with one email, or each user can provide their own email. If you prefer paper over the web platform, you can find the materials you will need here. For questions or help with sign ups, check out these tips on registration and logging books. You can also connect with us by calling 610-965-9284 during business hours, or via the web form any time.

Join us for our Summer Reading Kick Off Party on the Lawn Saturday, June 17th from 11 AM to 3 PM. Grubnight will be here 11 AM to 2 PM and Grateful Dogs will be here 11 AM to 3 PM and Kona Ice will be here noon to 2 PM. The Bear Mountain Butterfly Sanctuary will host a talk and release starting at 2 PM. We’ll also be bringing back Bingo with our friends from the Emmaus Kiwanis Club, giant jenga, temporary tattoos with all your favorite Summer Reading themes, Kids Workshop kits from The Home Depot, and a live pottery wheel demo. (In case of inclement weather, some events and activities will be rescheduled – check our Facebook, Instagram, or website for updates.)

Thank you to our Community Partners who will be joining us at the Kickoff Party on the lawn!

Thank you to our Prize and Events Sponsors (in no particular order)! The Friends of the Emmaus Public Library, The Crayola Experience, Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom, The Lehigh Valley Zoo, The Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs, Oriental Trading Co., The Home Depot (Store 4140), Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, Six Flags Great Adventure, Target, Wawa, and Wegman’s.

Children including Family readers (our littlest readers, who aren’t ready to read by themselves yet) and Independent readers (entering 5th grade and younger) earn incentives based on time spent reading, as well as bonuses for additional activities completed, attending SRC events (such as our special summer storytime series), and more.

Young Adults (entering 6th grade and up to 18 years old) earn a raffle ticket for each hour spent reading as well as bonuses for completing additional activities, attending SRC events, and more. Teens can enter the tickets for a chance to win one of several gift baskets drawn throughout the summer.

Adults (ages 18 and over): Read and complete activities to earn bingo in a row, column, or diagonal to finish the challenge. Your finished bingo card earns a book light (while supplies last) and a chance at the raffle prize drawing at the end of the summer. Prizes include Iron Pigs tickets and gift certificates from local businesses. Raffle winners will be drawn on 8/12. Winners will be notified via email or telephone. All adults who sign up get an SRC tote bag and a FREE book to keep, while supplies last.

Ready to plan a great summer with us? Check our calendar for more great SRC events all summer long — we’ve got something to do nearly every day! If you want to print out your own SRC materials you can find them all here or you can email Miss Sue for Children and Teens or Lauri for Adults.

Not sure what to read next? Check out a list of what’s new at the library (updated every two weeks), try goodreads to see what other are reading and recommending, check the library displays, check out our year end review of what staff and volunteers loved the most or ask Miss Sue (Youth Services Librarian) or Lauri (Adult Services Librarian) for a recommendation. They’ll be glad to help you find a great book!
