Summer Reading Club 2020 – Imagine Your Story
June 8 – August 15
Our Summer Reading Club is for readers of all ages! Children and Young Adults can read for incentives based on time spent reading (just like last year) and Adults have the option to enter book reviews each week for a chance to win a basket of goodies and gift certificates from local businesses. You don’t need a library card to participate in SRC, but you do need one to borrow materials. You can now register for a card online here. Check our guidelines for obtaining a card and learn more about the Lehigh Carbon Library Cooperative (LCLC) click here. SRC 2020 runs June 8 – August 15. The last day for Children and Young Adults to log hours is August 15, and the last day to pick up incentives is August 22.
As the end of summer nears, please take a moment to fill out our survey online or use the paper form and return it to the library by September 17, 2020.
New for SRC2020, we’re using READsquared for readers of all ages to track their reading, earn points and badges, and more. You can use the website or download the FREE app for Android or Apple devices to sign up. No library card is required, but you do need an email address. You can register multiple users with one email, or each user can provide their own email. If you prefer paper to the web platform, you can find the materials you will need here. For questions or help with sign ups check out these tips on registration and logging books. You can also connect with us by calling 610-965-9284 during business hours, or via the webform any time.
Children (up to 5th grade) Family readers (our littlest readers, who aren’t ready to read by themselves yet) and Independent readers (entering 5th grade and younger) earn incentives based on time spent reading, as well as bonuses for additional activities completed, attending SRC events (such as our special summer storytime series), and more.
Young Adults (entering 6th grade and up to 18 years old) earn a raffle ticket for each hour spent reading as well as bonuses for completing additional activities, attending SRC events, and more. Teens can enter the tickets for a chance to win one of several gift baskets at the conclusion of the program.
Adults (ages 18 and over) can read books in any format and submit a review for each title to be entered to win a bi-weekly raffle basket. Reviews are due by 5 PM each Saturday for the week’s entries. Winners will be announced the following Monday. Everyone who doesn’t win one of the baskets will be entered in a drawing for a final gift basket to be raffled off at the conclusion of the program. All adults who sign up get a SRC 2020 tote bag and a FREE mystery book, while supplies last.
Ready to plan a great summer with us? Check our calendar for more great SRC events all summer long — we’ve got something to do nearly every day! If you want to print out your own SRC materials you can find them all here or you can email Miss Sue for Children and Teens or Lauri for Adults.
Not sure what to read next? Check out a list of what’s new at the library (updated every two weeks), try NoveList or goodreads to see what other are reading and recommending, check the library displays, or ask Miss Sue (Youth Services Librarian) or Lauri (Adult Services Librarian) for a recommendation. They’ll be glad to help you find a great book!
