One month into the second half of the year, the private-funding thermometer rose another $4,235 in July — bringing the total for 2020 to $41,890 — or 38.8% of the target ($108,034).

EPL’s reopening for in-person visits not only brought many of you back to hunt for fresh reads — but also meant the return of revenue from such things as raffles, copying and printing, book sales from the Friends’ Book Sale Nook, etc. — all of which helped boost results.

Private donations, however, were the largest component. Without patron contributions throughout the year, we would be unable to close the budget gap left after state and local funding are accounted for. Every donation, no matter the amount, helps support the library’s mission, free programs and services for all.

With $66,144 still to go in the next five months, every patron can make a difference. Whether you want to take a chance on a raffle, carry your books home in an EPL tote, drop spare change in the donation box, or make an automatic monthly contribution, there’s a way you can help. Visit the Support EPL page for a list of ideas and choose the one that fits you!

Thank you — we couldn’t do it without you!
