The private-funding thermometer rose by $4,111 in August, bringing the sum for the year to $71,150, or 62% of the goal.

The total included nearly $3,000 in general gifts, including an individual donation of $2,500 from a loyal supporter. Additional contributors to last month’s results included $673 in sales from the Friends’ Book Nook, and $575 in cash receipts for lost or damaged items, printing/copies, etc.

With four months left to go, the gap is $43,556, or $10,889 per month on average.
