Private funding inched up another $1,481 in August, bringing this year’s total to $43,371 — or 40.1% of the target — with four months of 2020 to go.

The biggest share of last month’s results came from sales of books and puzzles in the Friends’ ‘book nook’ area. Woohoo — be sure to check out the great selection on your next visit!

Donations, raffle sales, and revenue from sources such as printing, fines, and fees for damaged and lost items made up the rest.

The current total is about $10K below where we were at this time last year, reflecting the impact of the pandemic on donations, as well as the cancellation of the Friends’ large book sale in the spring and other fundraising events.

The good news is that the Friends’ two drive-up book sales in July were a hit, making up for some of the loss. The even better news is that they’ve just announced an Oct. 17 book sale (9 a.m. – 2 p.m.) — and this time, you’ll be able to pick out your books from tables on the library lawn. Watch for more info in BELONG and on social media!

With nearly $65K still to go towards the goal, the next four months are key. You can help the library by entering the September raffles, purchasing an EPL tote, dropping your spare change in the donation box, or making an automatic monthly contribution, among others. Visit the Support EPL page for more ways to help us close the gap this year!

Thank you — we couldn’t do it without you!
