EPL seed lending library

If the anticipation of warmer days has you dreaming of a lush garden that bears healthy food all summer, come in to the library for free seed packets to get it started!

Tucked away in the drawers that used to house our card catalog, you’ll find seeds for everything from carrots to corn, and broccoli to beets. We even have some flower seeds.

Our ‘seed lending library,’ now in its fifth year, is made possible through generous donations from  Lowe’s and SeedWay.

You can take up to eight packets per checkout with your library card (limit 2 of each variety). Just pick out the seed packets you like and take them to the desk along with your card. Easy peas-y.

If you have the space, consider planting an extra row and dropping off the produce at the library for Plant A Row Lehigh Valley. They pick up donated garden and grocery produce at EPL every week throughout the summer and distribute it to local pantries and food banks. Last year, donations at the library totaled more than 700 lbs.!  Be on the lookout for more details about drop-off days and times as summer approaches.

For now, get your seeds and your green thumb and get growing!
